77年、弱冠7歳のカメルーン人少年Francis Mbargaをヴォーカルにいただき、フランス、カメルーンの腕利きミュージシャン達の集結によってフランスで録音された奇跡のキッズアフロファンクLP、「Francis The Great ‎– Ravissante Baby」Bサイド収録楽曲。

第二次大戦以降、ドイツ支配からフランスの植民地となったカメルーンはフランスと文化面で強いコネクションが存在して、そんな背景からか、パリのメニルモンタン地区の小学校に通っていたFrancis君は7歳の誕生日に「僕のレコードを出すんだい！」とパパにせがみ、「仕方ないなあ、このおませさんめ」などと言ったかどうか定かではありませんがきっと言ったことでしょう、この可愛い息子の一世一代のおねだりにパパはモンスターペアレンツ化の一途をたどり、さらに祖国とのアーティストコーディネイトを生業としていたママのコネクションをフル活用。その結果集結したベーシストVicky Edimoを筆頭に、ギタリストToto Guillaumeや、シンセサイザー奏者Michel Moroseら腕利きミュージシャン達の手によってアレンジされた超自由奔放、超オヴスキュアなバックトラックに、Francis君が日々勉学に勤しんでいた成果をここぞで発揮、英語で綴ったポエムを声変わり前のあどけない声で歌い上げ完成したのが本作です。ブラス、ギター、ベース、シンセサイザー、パーカッションが所狭しと乱反射し続ける12分を越える長尺トラックの中を悠々闊歩するFrancis君の無邪気なマッド感にパパもびっくりのほんのり電化なチビっ子アフロファンク問題作品。ちなみに、この作品、パリのカルトアフロ再発掘レーベル、Hot Casaによって、もはやいい大人になっているであろうFrancisさんから直接ライセンス、2015年にリイシューされていますが、オリジナル盤に関しては5万円以上という生き馬の目を抜くような値がついております…。

This song was recorded in France in 1977 by a group of talented musicians from France and Cameroon, with a young Cameroonian boy, Francis Mbarga on vocals, on the B-side of “Francis The Great – Ravissante Baby”, a miraculous children’s Afrofunk LP.

After World War II, Cameroon, which was transformed from a German colony to a French colony, had a strong cultural connection with France, and it may be due to this background that Francis, who attended an elementary school in the Menilmontin area of Paris, was told on his 7th birthday, “I’m going to put out my record!
